Jérôme Voisin
Biography
Born in Limoges, France in 1972, Jérôme Voisin started playing the clarinet at the age of 9. After studying at the Conservatoire National de Région de Tours with professor Didier Delettre, he graduated with high honors from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon (class of Jacques Di Donato) and continued clarinet and chamber music classes with Pascal Moraguès at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. He is the winner of three major international music competitions in Roma, Prague and Toulon, and performs extensively in numerous international music festivals all over the world as well as for the French National Broadcasting Company, France Musique. Principal clarinet of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France since 2006, he was previously bass clarinetist in the same orchestra for 10years. He is also regularly invited at the Mahler Chamber Orchestra or Chamber Orchestra of Europe.With orchestras, Jérôme Voisin performed at the Aix-en-Provence festival, Mozart Festwochen of Salzburg, as well as in Turin, Modena or Ferrara, under the direction of Claudio Abbado, Daniel Harding, Trevor Pinnock, Tugan Sokhiev, Yannick Nezet-Seguin. He founded in 2010 the Ensemble Pasarela (Maud Lovett, violin, Bruno Maurice, accordeon, Frederic Lagarde, piano) dedicated to music from South America, classical and traditional (Tango, Brasilian music and also contemporary music) Very active in contemporary repertoire, he plays with Ensemble TM+ or Alternance. In 2005 he recorded Dalbavie’s double concerto for clarinet, basset horn and orchestra with Romain Guyot. He also recorded with French jazzmen Stéphane and Lionel Belmondo (Hymne au soleil) in cooperation with Yusef Lateef, Milton Nascimento.
Recent performances include jazz festivals such as Jazz a Vienne, Banlieues bleues, La Villette Jazz Festival… Finally, holding the teaching diploma «Certificat d’Aptitude» for clarinet, Jérôme Voisin teaches Chamber Music at the Boulogne-Billancourt Conservatory as well as at the Chamber Music Academy from Saint-Geniez d’Olt and clarinet at Gennevilliers Conservatory. Jérôme is endorsed by Yamaha Music Europe and plays the CSG III clarinet. He is also an active Rico artist and plays with Rico Reserve reeds.
